    Managing Idle Buildings Webinar

    John Greenburg and Vince Andrews present a video from Travelers’ Insurance Company on minimizing risks of idle buildings. Many of our buildings that were once used frequently are now sitting idle during the pandemic. This webinar will discuss potential hazards of idle buildings and provide recommendations on how to manage them.

He also presents the ins and outs of Special Events Insurance specifically detailing when it is or isn’t necessary to purchase.     Statewide School Drinking Water Quality Program Funding Available Beginning October 17

    "Beginning October 17, 2016, funding will become available for the statewide school drinking water quality program. The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) in cooperation with the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) will reimburse public schools and registered nonpublic schools up to $950 per school building for drinking water testing, fixture replacements, plumbing assessments, or filter purchases for expense incurred between July 1, 2016, and September 30, 2017. Eligible districts will apply through the Michigan Electronic Grants System Plus (MEGS+). Once the application is approved, districts will be able to request reimbursement through the Cash Management System (CMS). Registered Nonpublic Schools are required to have reported in MEGS+ for the 2016–17 school year to be considered eligible." Read the official State of Michigan memorandum.

    New Travel Accident Policy

    Effective currently, the Michigan Catholic Conference now includes a Travel Assistance Plan within the Risk Management Program. The program is completely free for travel participants and includes all priests, religious, clergy, students, volunteers, employees and Guests who are in Active Service. Please review the Policy Details of this coverage and familiarize yourself with the benefits it provides. Every travel participant should be given a copy of the Travel Assistance Program Handout for quick reference and guidance in case of an incident during a trip.     New Training Platform Now Available

    Please click on the Learning Management System link above to be directed to our Risk Control Training platform. We currently have over 20 modules that will help build your loss prevention skillset and we plan to add more in the future. This is a free service and the individual registration allows the entire staff to participate.

    Michigan's New Sports Concussion Law

    Effective June 30, 2013, all coaches, employees, volunteers, and other adults involved with a youth athletic activity must comply with Michigan’s Sports Concussion Awareness Laws, Public Acts 342 & 343 of 2012. There are many specific requirements in the sports concussion legislation, including requirements to complete a concussion awareness on-line training program, providing educational materials related to the signs and symptoms of concussions to parents and guardians, and the handling of an athlete who may have sustained a concussion.
