Special Election Message, November 3, 2014
“Politics, according to the Social Doctrine of the Church, is one of the highest forms of charity, because it serves the common good.” —Pope Francis, 9/6/13
Tomorrow, November 4th, voters all across Michigan will participate in the General Election. The votes that are cast at the ballot box will determine many races and issues at the local, state, and federal level, and it is crucial as Catholics to participate in this process.
Before heading to the polls tomorrow between 7:00 am and 8:00 pm, make sure to know where the candidates on your ballot stand on issues important to the Church, such as human life, religious liberty, economic justice, education, families and immigration. There is still time to learn more and to pray about your decisions. Check out the following resources for further information:
- Visit MCC’s election website at www.micatholic.org/2014election [Link no longer available —Ed.].
- Take a look at your sample ballot and find your polling location at the Michigan Secretary of State website.
- Read what issues to consider when voting in MCC’s FOCUS piece, The Issues, The Candidates and Your Vote 2014.
Thank you for taking the time to vote and encourage others to as well. Your votes CAN make a difference!
