Flexible Spending Accounts
The MCC’s Flexible Benefit Church Plan allows for individual employee accounts that provide for reimbursement of eligible medical, dental, and vision expenses or dependent care expenses. These are known as Flexible Spending Accounts and individually referred to as the Health Care Reimbursement Account and Dependent Care Assistance Account. Contributions made to either of these two different accounts are not subject to federal, state, local and FICA taxes. Employees have the opportunity to enroll in either of these accounts each year during the annual open enrollment period.
Active enrollment is required each year during the annual enrollment period at which time you elect the amount(s) to contribute for the upcoming plan year. Contribution elections may not be changed during the year unless there a qualifying event and it is reported within 30-days to MCC.
As of January 1, 2021, HealthEquity is the administrator of the MCC Flexible Spending Accounts.
Please be aware that the two types of Flexible Spending Accounts are for different purposes with differing rules and eligible expenses.
